The major steps involved in a full exterior detail are roof cleaning bug removal overall washing including awnings tire cleaning protecting clay bar paint decontamination pro step polishing swirl removal if needed paint sealing pro step wheel cleaning polishing glass cleaning and adding a water repellent to the front glass pro step.
Having owned own an suv it hate correcting polishing the roof however i personally do it to my own vehicles if anything it makes it easier to apply the protection.
It s not gigantic by any means just a basic 4x4 f 150 but i m used to washing much smaller vehicles.
These are better and safer than a ladder which can tip sideways if you lean too far.
Any tips or suggestions.

I have a couple different step stools two step and three steep ones for polishing roofs.
It s a 4 hour process for me for a mostly defect free vehicle and i m always beat at the end.
I cannot stand in the bed because i have a hard bed cover on the bed.

I use a ladder to stand on and also use a brush with a handle.
Lol also its a silver van.
Short of standing up in the bed to wash and dry the roof what are some other options.
Lastly i don t polish or do correction as often as i will do the rest of the car.
Can i stand on the roof.
But i agree i normally will do the roof first because it s the part i dread doing the most.
This is an 03 honda odyssey.

Even with a step ladder i can t seem to reach the middle part of the roof.
I do polish the roof i have done my trucks and do my wife s suv but i m so short that i even need a step stool to do the roof of my sho.
No oxidation rust etc.

I ve been a car guy for several years now so washing all the real estate on this is going to be a new experience for me.
But i do feel guilty about that.
This works fine cleaning but now i need to dry the top and i cannot reach the middle.
It is just dull with the normal wear and tear that you d expect from a roof rack which spent most of it s life close to the sea.
Now i am having trouble on how to work on the roof of a van.
Would it be necessary to use ultimate polish on the roof.
